The United Kingdom has agreed to give 2 million doses of covi shield vaccine to Nepal. The United Kingdom will provide the same amount of vaccines to Nepal free of cost under the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Covax program.
It has been decided to give the same vaccine to Nepal not on the diplomatic initiative of Nepal but on the initiative of the Gorkhas and the British Ambassador (Nicole Polit) to Nepal . Following their initiative, the British upper house decided last Thursday to give Nepal the same amount of vaccines. The decision was made by Parliament on the proposal of the British Foreign Office.
The UK has made such a decision saying that Nepal needs vaccination at present. Last week, Ambassador Polit also briefed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in this regard. This news is published in today’s Economic Campaign Daily.
